There’s so many festive things to do here, so it’s no wonder why so many families come down for the weekend to see us and experience all the winter magic going on in the area. We love to give our visitors a special thank you for spending time with us here in the Smokies by decorating the town with millions of dazzling Christmas lights spanning from Sevierville to Gatlinburg! You will definitely want to take advantage of the Driving Tour of Lights this winter. It just doesn’t get more magical than that, you will feel like you’re truly in a winter wonderland while you’re visiting! When you stay with us here at Bear Crossing, you’re able to be right smack dab in the middle of all the action thanks to this perfect location! Whether you’re wanting to visit The Island or Old Mill Square, you can do so without even having to pack up the car. Another perk of vacationing with us is that you get FREE TICKETS to numerous shows and attractions in the area that are sure to become favorites for the whole family! I know it’s hard to narrow down all the things that are a must see when you’re here for the weekend, so we decided to help you out a bit. Let’s take a look at what A Winter Weekend in Pigeon Forge has in store for us all!
One of the best parts about visiting Pigeon Forge is that there are so many different attractions for the family to enjoy. During the winter, they’re all decorated with festive displays that you are sure to love. We all knew this first one was coming, but it isn’t a winter trip if you don’t visit Dollywood! Not only will you get to see millions of dazzling lights decorating the park, but it’s also when the Parade of Many Colors takes place. If you haven’t seen it before, you won’t want to miss it. This enchanting parade is special for so many of us and it is sure to become a staple every year once you’ve seen it. There are also some incredible shows to catch while you’re at the park like their very own version of It’s A Wonderful Life. You will love Dollywood in the winter, I promise! Another fun attraction to take advantage of this winter is The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel! I recommend doing this one later in the evening so that you can see all the Christmas lights and displays decorating the city from 200 feet up in the air, it’s such a spectacular site to see. This is also one of the attractions that you get a free ticket for when you’re staying with us, so make sure to check this one out! If you’re ready for a thrill while you’re visiting, you’ll definitely want to visit the Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster! It’s the longest downhill ride in the United States and it’s bound to be a hit with the entire family. You’re able to experience the mountains in a whole new special kind of way, all while getting an adrenaline rush when you control your own speed on this coaster. There’s so many other fun things to do, but these are just a few of our top favorites for your weekend trip!
It’s hard to talk about a trip to Pigeon Forge without mentioning the many food choices to choose from while you’re here. The foodie in me wants to just list all of them, but I know I need to narrow it down a bit for you. This first spot is one that you know we have to mention – The Old Mill Restaurant! Here you will find some of the best southern cooking around. It’s all served family style, so make sure you come extra hungry. I don’t think words can express how much I love their soup, you have to try it, it won’t disappoint. This local spot truly offers some of the best food around, every member of your family is sure to leave full and satisfied! Are you in the mood for one of the best steaks around? I think that means it’s time for you to visit the Alamo Steakhouse! Best part about this restaurant? It’s right across the street from our property, you can’t get much better than that. While the steaks truly are incredible, they also offer plenty of other choices from seafood to sandwiches! Their appetizers also can’t be beat, make sure to try the bacon wrapped shrimp because who doesn’t love a little bacon in their life?! Another favorite of mine is Bennett’s Pit Bar-B-Que. We are in the South, so of course we have to mention this one! Their award winning barbecue is smoked for up to 14 hours, so you can only imagine how incredible the taste is. I have to be honest with you, though, and tell you that my actual favorite part is their homemade bread! Oh my goodness, I could just eat a side of that for dinner and be fully satisfied. I know there are other great places to talk about, but these are definitely high up there on the list.
We all know that one of the best places to go to get your Christmas shopping started is here in Pigeon Forge! There are so many cute boutiques and shops to visit, it’s hard to try to list them all. Old Mill Square is one of my favorite spots to visit to do a little browsing. From hand-crafted pottery to kitchenware, you are bound to find something here for every member in your family! It’s also a beautiful spot to just walk around at so you get to enjoy some scenery while you’re out and about. The Island is another popular shopping destination to visit while you’re in town. Here you can find a wide assortment of shops to visit ranging from puzzles to comic book memorabilia. It’s also home to the oldest family owned five and ten in the United States, so make sure you visit Emery’s 5 & 10! Best part of this location? You can walk to it from Bear Crossing, no driving necessary! Tanger Outlets is the last stop to talk about! You will literally find everything you could ever need at this shopping oasis. From designer purses to homegoods, you will get lost at this place, it’s a shopper’s dream come true! And don’t worry, there’s a starbucks to help us regain our energy after a busy day. There’s nothing better than shopping for the holidays!
We hope you enjoyed this quick look at A Winter Weekend in Pigeon Forge! It’s hard to fit so many fun things into a weekend that feels like it goes by way too fast, but we have complete faith in you!
