If you want some southern hospitality, good food, and plenty of exciting shows and attractions to attend, you’re coming to the right place! Even though it’s the winter time, there are still so many things to do to make sure that it’s one entertaining vacation for you and the family from beginning to end. When you stay with us here at Bear Crossing, we offer two and three bedroom condos with a gas fireplace to keep you warm this season! We also happen to be right smack dab in the middle of town, so you’re within walking distance of plenty of destinations like The Island and The Old Mill. Another perk of vacationing better with us is that we have a FREE TICKETS program for numerous shows and attractions in the area for you to take advantage of! With a daily savings of $275, this is sure to become your favorite part of staying at our properties. So what’s there to do during this time of year? We’re glad you asked! Let’s take a look at some Pigeon Forge Winter Activities for you to enjoy!

First on the list is you have to visit Ober Gatlinburg because they turn into our very own ski resort! Are you ready for all things snow? They offer skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, and even ice skating. If you’re a beginner, they also have ski school to help teach everyone the basics and keep the slopes safe for everyone on them! They offer all different sessions for the skiing, snowboarding, and tubing, so make sure to check out their site to figure out what times best work for you. Make sure to get your tubing tickets early, they sell out extremely fast and you won’t want to miss out on all the fun! For ice skating, it’s only $9 a person which gets you the skate rentals and three hours of continuous ice time, it’s such a good deal. Even if you don’t want to hit the slopes, they have so many other things to do like a mountain coaster, alpine slide, and a scenic chairlift! The views here can’t be beat and you will definitely want to see them in all their glory while you’re there, so don’t miss out on Ober this winter!

Hiking is another fun activity that you can enjoy here especially during the winter time. There are so many amazing trails you can hike through and the views are even more incredible at this time. One of my favorite trails is Laurel Falls. This moderate hike is 2.6 miles round trip and it does have a paved path, but still has some steep moments, so just remember to be careful especially during the colder temperatures. The best part about this particular trail is that during the below-freezing weather, the falls actually become frozen themselves, so you’re getting to see their very own creation of a winter wonderland! The scenery here is just gorgeous, so it’s no wonder why this is such a popular trail during all times of the year. Rainbow Falls is another one that is definitely worth going on. The special part of this particular trail is that during those below-freezing temperatures, the waterfall turns into this crystal castle formation, so to speak, and it’s just absolutely beautiful. You’ll want to have your camera ready for this one, we promise. The waterfall here is actually the highest single-drop waterfall in the Smokies – it’s 80 feet high, and it’s a spot that has become a staple for so many visitors, new and old. Hiking will instantly become a winter must-do for the whole family!

We all know that with colder temperatures, the possibility of snow becomes even more likely, so how can we see our beautiful Smokies in all their glory if it’s too cold for a hike? Well, luckily for us, The Island took care of this little problem by creating The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel! At 200 feet high, these enclosed and heated (yay!) gondolas will give you some of the best views of the mountains that you can find in the area. They comfortably seat up to eight people, so you and your family can enjoy this one together and trust us, you won’t want to miss it. Don’t forget that you get a FREE ticket for this attraction on each day of your stay, woohoo! If the temperatures aren’t too bad, they offer so many other fun things to do like a ropes course, escape game, and shopping, of course. They’re also home to some incredible restaurants like Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen and Margaritaville! Don’t forget to also check out their Fountain Light Show where the water and lights dance around to a choreographed set of songs, it’s amazing. This place can become a day long adventure, so you won’t want to miss out on all the fun when you come to town!

And finally, the last stop on your winter adventure is the Titanic Museum. Grab your boarding pass at the front desk for a reduced price and get ready to climb aboard that beautiful ship. Here you will find amazing replicas and you’ll be able to learn all about the ship, crews, and passengers. Walk the Grand Staircase, attempt to stand on a sinking deck, and touch an iceberg so you can feel how cold the water was that night. You get to explore the ship as if you were actually a passenger yourself and the best part of all? After taking in all the history of the ship, you will get to find out if you survived that night or not. This attraction is fun for the entire family and it’s a great way for us to remember everyone that was on the ship that fateful night. This is one of my favorite attractions, so I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do!
