We are one day away from October! For me, October is the kick off to the Holiday season. Halloween is filling the stores Nationwide and Thanksgiving and Christmas will soon follow. It really is the “most wonderful time of the year!” There are a lot of fun events and activities going on during the month of October that you do not want to miss. Grab your calendar because we are going to cover all of the October Activities in Pigeon Forge this Fall.
If you haven’t checked out the Gatlinburg Farmers Market yet, you better do it soon! There are only two more Saturday’s before it closes for the season (October 8th). It is open from 8:30am-12:00pm. This is a local favorite, definitely at the top of the October Activities in Pigeon Forge “To Do” list!
Fall Harvest at The Island
The Island in Pigeon Forge is celebrating their Fall season with decorations, live music, and a view of the foliage on top of The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel of the Smoky Mountains. Make sure you check out the 4th annual Halloween event on October 29th. The environment at the Island is always fun for the family, just add the cool brisk air of Fall with super cute and festive Fall decor. Perfect for Fall pictures!
Cades Cove Evening Hayride
Because who doesn’t want to snuggle up to their loved ones on a hayride in the mountains? Sign me up! Everyday Wednesday thru October 26th from 4:00-6:00pm. Join a ranger for an evening of open air hayride viewing wildlife and discovering the diversity of life in the Cove. It is a first come first serve basis, I recommend arriving a little early. Meet at the Cades Cove riding stables. The hayride is approximately 2 hours long and prices are $14.00/person.
Ober Gatlinburg is is celebrating October with a fantastic festival featuring Bavarian style food, drink, and music. These fun festivities run until October 30th. You can make a day of this with everything that Ober has to offer. Let the festivities begin!
Dollywood is amazing anytime of year, but during Fall you can experience the largest Southern Gospel festival in the Smokies! Featured by Humana, this 6 week Southern Gospel celebration is packed full of FREE concerts! All concerts are included with Dollywood admission. The last day of the festival is October 29th.
I highly recommend taking your family to this! We’ve gone the last few years with our little ones and we all leave happy! Kyker Farms is an authentic farm adventure featuring corn mazes, hayrides, pumpkin patch, and much more! The corn maze closes on October 30th.
Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede Childrens Annual Whoadeo
Saturday, October 1st only! Featuring a stick horse competition, carnival, and free refreshments. This Childrens Whoadeo is for children ages 3-12 and runs from 8:30am-1:00pm.
If you are looking for spooky, thrilling Halloween fun then this is your place! This Halloween spectacular will be the event of the season! Eerie things occur this time of year: strange happenings, coincidences, and otherwise unexplainable phenomena. Shocktober embodies all things Halloween and will capture audiences of all ages. This special show runs through the entire month of October.
Pigeon Forge Rotary Club Craft Fair
This one is a family favorite! In my 11 years of living here, I have attended this fair every single year. It’s not large, located in the Parking lot near Patriot Park off of Old Mill Ave. Locally and nationally skilled craftsmen display their crafts and wares from woodworking Native American jewelry and gifts, quilts, stained glass, and so much more! A great place to start your Holiday shopping! The last day of the craft fair is October 29th.
Gatlinburg Craftsment Fair-Fall
Enjoy 150+ booths of the nation’s finest crafts people. See live demonstrations and be entertained and be entertained with live Country and Bluegrass Music. One of my all time favorites! Before moving to this beautiful area, my parents would schedule our vacation around this Fall festival so my Mom and I could attend. We still go every year, Summer and Fall! It from October 6-October 23rd.
On October 22nd from 9:00am-2:00pm you can join the annual Stomp Out Breast Cancer Event, hosted by Rocky Top Winery. You will walk to three of the winery’s (Hillside Winery, Apple Barn Winery, and Mountain Valley Winery). They will have fun activities at each location, like grape stomping! That has been on my bucket list. Tickets are $25 and include lunch, bottled water, a backpack filled with goodies, and a Rocky Top Wine Trail glass. They will also have a “Pink” wine available for purchase. $5 of each bottle sold will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
October is jam-packed full of Fall fun! There is something for everyone in your family, crafty, musical, spooky, community supportive, and just down right fun. Anytime is a great time to visit Pigeon Forge; but Fall is truly my favorite time. It’s time for a family meeting!
