Yee-Haw Brewing Company at The Island
Yee-Haw Brewing Company opened up a new location at The Island in Pigeon Forge recently! Known as one of Tennessee’s most popular breweries, it has already become a huge hit in the short amount of time it has been open. Located next to the Ole Smoky Moonshine Barn, Yee-Haw offers 20 taps that serve their products. This is also the first Yee-Haw location that offers their large bottles of bourbon and whiskey beers. Visitors will also have a chance to pick up some merchandise while trying their different signature beers as well.
Ripley’s Believe It or Not!
Ripley’s Believe It or Not! underwent a huge transformation this year! Even though it was completely renovated, this museum still has the largest collections of unusual and weird items from all over the world. The exterior of the newly updated museum is all about The Great Smoky Mountains! The first thing you will notice is a huge tree growing through the center of the building! Mountain critters adorn the branches while enjoying some mountain activities like a fox playing the banjo and a raccoon causing mischief! The majority of the fun of visiting this museum is you literally never know what is around the next corner, but we thought we would share a few of the new exhibits you can expect to see. With the redesign, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! has a much better flow and entails even more space and more interactive exhibits. The Ripley’s Jungle is a new addition to the museum that is inspired by travels to the Amazon rainforest. You will hear authentic nature sounds as you venture further and further through the jungle! Some highlights you can expect to see are a shrunken human torso that once belonged to Ernest Hemingway, a station where you can shrink your own head, and an interactive screen that puts different headdresses over your face. There is even a vending machine where you can purchase edible bugs. This is a great activity for anyone that likes the truly weird or has an adventurous spirit.
Riverwalk Greenway Extension
A lot of Pigeon Forge’s charm is the fact that it is located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Visitors to this area love to spend time outdoors and take in as much scenery as they can. The city of Pigeon Forge has always had an interest in making the city as pedestrian-friendly as they can. That is why they chose to extend the Riverwalk Greenway! Beginning in the Old Mill District and Patriot Park, the Riverwalk trail goes right by Bear Crossing Condominiums, The LeConte Center, and the Island in Pigeon Forge. It now continues further and takes you over to the Pigeon Forge Community Center! Part of this trails charm is that it follows the Little Pigeon River for much of the walk which makes it even more serene. If you are vacationing with us at Bear Crossing, you can even take this trail on over to the new Brick & Spoon Restaurant on Community Center drive for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Guests of ours receive an exclusive discount when they dine there. As we mentioned earlier, there are always new things to do in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg and there are already plans in motion for future fun activities.
