No one will argue that this has been a year like we have never seen before. The fact that we have all been quarantined in our homes for a while now leaves us all dreaming about taking a vacation. People are vacationing again and many have asked us what we are doing to battle Covid-19. We are asked daily what steps we are taking so we thought we would address those and also give you some vacation rental benefits vs staying in a cabin or hotel.

Changes we have made since Covid-19

  1. We have made quite a few changes since Covid-19 pretty much changed the way we live and do things on a daily basis. Before, we worked with an insurance company to offer travel insurance to our guests. We learned, when Covid-19 first began, that they would not honor refunds or reschedules even though many cities and states were not allowing visitors to travel unnecessarily. Wanting to take care of our guests, we worked with them all ourselves to offer reschedules and we also brought our travel insurance policy in-house. What does that mean? Well, it means that you can cancel up to the day of your arrival and not lose your money as long as you had purchased the Vacation Guarantee Travel Insurance policy. You can read all about that policy here. What this did was allow us to help our guests in a more timely manner and allow them a refund or a reschedule option so they did not lose their money. We have received excellent feedback for our vacationers on this new policy.
  2. Cleanliness has always been a top priority to us and our housekeeping staff work diligently to ensure the vacation rentals are thoroughly cleaned for our guests upon arrival. We have always cleaned and inspected them twice before check-ins are allowed. We wanted to make sure we were doing all that the CDC was asking and following the guidelines so we actually completely overhauled our cleaning products and system. We met with a new company and had them come in and completely redo all of our cleaning products to ensure we met the CDC guidelines. These products are approved to heavily sanitize and battle the spread of Covid-19. They also smell absolutely amazing! The feedback from our guests and our housekeeping department has all been positive.
  3. During the time when no one was really travelling, our staff deep cleaned the units and our maintenance staff bleached all the pool furniture and cleaned the grounds at all of our properties.
  4. In addition to the above steps, we have put in plexiglas at all of our front offices to limit contact and we are limiting the people allowed in the office to two. During this time, we also implemented the option for our vacationers to do a virtual check-in which completely cuts out the need for you to come to the office. You electronically sign some documents and we will place your packet and info in the condo for you.

Benefits of Staying in a Vacation Rental

When you choose to vacation in a vacation rental vs a hotel, you get a lot more for your money. Hotels are great for a day or two, but when you are planning a vacation, a vacation rental is the perfect option. You get a lot more square footage for everyone to spread out. This means less tensions between family members which is always a plus. You will have a lot more space to place your belongings and any purchases you make while shopping in our area. Our vacation rentals also offer a full kitchen with all the cookware etc you would have in your own kitchen at home. In addition, you have a dining room, spacious living room, private bedrooms, full bathrooms, your very own washer and dryer and a private balcony. When we say you have square footage, we mean it! Yes, rates do typically run a little more per night for a vacation rental, but when you factor in the money you can save by cooking a meal in the full kitchen or by using the washer/dryer in the unit instead of finding the laundry facilities at a hotel, the savings really add up. In addition to the above, guests vacationing in a vacation rental also typically have more amenities on-site if staying in a resort. For instance, here at Bear Crossing, we have an outdoor pool, gas grills along the Little Pigeon River and fishing in the river.

Like we mentioned earlier, you can enjoy quite the savings by utilizing the full kitchen that comes with a two or three bedroom vacation rental. Whether you choose to have breakfast, lunch or dinner in your rental instead of dining out, you will be shocked at the money you can save. In addition, with Covid-19 still being a concern, more people are choosing to cook more meals instead of going out so if you are looking to do the same while vacationing this year, vacation rentals are definitely the way to go.

Another perk to staying in a vacation rental is the mere size of your vacation home. Condos provide a lot more space for the family to spread out and you are not all confined to one room. Our condo rentals are spacious and offer everything a home would. Each rental offers a full kitchen, washer & dryer, dining area, living room, closet space, full bathrooms and king bedrooms. In addition, the grounds at Bear Crossing provide additional space. Guests of ours love to enjoy the riverside picnic area whether it is to grill, picnic, fish or simply sit riverside and relax.

Going on a vacation can quickly become a bit pricey. In addition to the rental and food, you will likely be purchasing tickets to the numerous attractions in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We want everyone to enjoy their time spent in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains which is why we provide a Complimentary Ticket Package to every reservation. You can read all about the free tickets here, but it values at more than $600 per day. This is a way we can give back to our guests and thank them for choosing to vacation with us in downtown Pigeon Forge.

These are just a few of the Vacation Rental Benefits you receive when you stay at Bear Crossing Condominiums. We would love to have you join us for your next getaway to the Smokies!
