Breakfast-they say it is the most important meal of the day. Eating breakfast began in the latter part of the Stone Age when people would grind grains with stones to make porridge. In the early 19th century is when breakfast began as we know it today. It became a staple in people’s daily schedules. Today, however, fewer and fewer people choose to take the time to enjoy and have “the most important meal of the day.”
Many people vacationing with us, in our Pigeon Forge condos, always inquire where the best places are to eat and start the day. Sure, we have Cracker Barrel’s and IHOP’s, and though those are delicious – we have some other options for you! It feels like there are about 100 pancake houses along the Parkway and they all, for the most part, have the same menu. There are “those can’t be missed” restaurants though and we are going to share them with our wonderful guests! Here are the golden answers from a Pigeon Forge native on where to enjoy a Pigeon Forge Breakfast.
Sawyer’s Farmhouse Breakfast is the newest breakfast restaurant to open in Pigeon Forge and it is, by far, one of the favorites among the locals now. Located between lights 5 & 6, it is very convenient to everyone and delivers on a delicious meal to get you energized for the many daily activities a vacation in Pigeon Forge offers. Their pancakes are divine! It is the perfect short walk if you are staying at Bear Crossing.
Step into a nostalgic setting at The Log Cabin Pancake House. Located at the end of Pigeon Forge, prepare yourself for a lot of food as their portions are certainly enough to fill you up! Set in an old fashioned looking cabin, this little restaurant will be perfect for energizing you for your planned daily activities. Friendly staff and good food – what more can you ask for? Speaking of nostalgic, you certainly want to stop by Tennessee’s first pancake house! The Pancake Pantry in Gatlinburg first opened in 1960. With its inviting atmosphere and made from scratch fixings and not to mention real butter, you don’t want to miss out on this little treat. Once you have had it you will likely join the tradition of so many others before you and visit each trip you make to the area. Another great choice is Mel’s Diner in Pigeon Forge is located at traffic light 3, off Wears Valley, and is any diner’s delight. Make sure you have some pocket change so you can choose a few tunes on the Jukebox while enjoying a classic meal.
Start your day off right and don’t skip breakfast or brunch. Enjoy one of the above mentioned restaurants and then head out to The Great Smoky Mountains, Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge area. Or you can cook yourself a home cooked meal in the comfort of your own kitchen when staying in one of our condominiums. Oh, and you are more than welcome to drop off some grits and biscuits and gravy with us anytime you decide to dine out or cook for breakfast. We certainly never turn down a good ole fashioned meal! Especially a southern breakfast.
