Why Choose A Condo?
People across the country who are planning for their family’s vacation are faced with tough decisions when choosing where to stay and what to do in Pigeon Forge and the Gatlinburg area. Most people want the most bang for their buck, AND they have a budget to which they must adhere. They wrestle with concerns like: “Which type of accommodation is the best value?” and “What will we be the most comfortable in?”
And at the top of the consideration list are the budget questions: “What is perfect for our family budget? Should we spend less on accommodations and more on the adventures? Or, should we stay in a place where the whole family can spend more free time together at the facility’s cool amenities and spend less on attractions?” The truth of the matter is, where a couple or a family ultimately chooses to stay can pre-determine how the rest of the vacation budget will be spent, and how much all will enjoy the whole vacation experience.
Space: The Final Frontier
So, you love the wilderness, the fresh mountain air, and the beautiful scenery of the Great Smoky Mountains; that is why you chose to come to the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area in the first place. But you want the fun and excitement that the city of Pigeon Forge offers, too. Now, does staying in a cramped, one-bedroom hotel room right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of town sound like your idea of vacation fun?
A condo offers so much more than the hum drum, cookie cutter, impersonal and often overpriced hotel room. I believe one should be as comfortable away from home as possible, no matter what the reason – business or pleasure, but especially if I am on vacation!
Condominiums offer more comfortable surroundings, a homey touch, as well as tasteful, magazine-quality and uniquely decorated two, three or four bedroom “homes”, plus more “real” rooms: a living room, dining room, a kitchen and one or more bathrooms. The condos feature open floor plans and you get to choose the unit that fits your family best! In most cases you may also choose a mountain, river or city view.
Now, pull up a picture of that standard hotel room in your mind: A cramped, tiny, 12×16 foot single room, facing a concrete parking lot. Sprinkle in 2 adults and 1 to 3 children. Add luggage and personal affects. Mix in many hours and days of vacation time in this room. What do you have? A recipe for CRAZY and STRESS! Would you really call this relaxing?? I don’t think so.
So, even if I ONLY considered space, with a quality, homey, and personal feel, the condominium vs. hotel question is an easy decision for me. “But, wait!” as they say, “There’s more!”
What’s Inside the Box?
Let’s talk amenities. What amenities does a hotel offer your family for the week or so that you will be vacationing with them and trying to relax and refresh your inner soul? One small TV on top of a desk unit (By the way, just TRY to get the family to decide what to watch all together every night, and heaven help you if you have a baby or small children that still nap or go to bed early!), Wi-Fi, a tiny coffee maker, maybe a miniature microwave unit (what have you got to cook?), and a micro fridge that you can fit only 4 soft drink cans in. Lovely.
Now, let’s compare that with your home, or, the condo you could choose instead. How about modern, up-to-date, HD, flat screen TVs in EVERY room? How about a separate room JUST for the baby or your small children that need to nap and/or go to bed early? Let’s throw in a fully furnished kitchen that allows YOU to choose not only when and where you eat, but what foods YOU want to eat for breakfast, not to mention the midnight snacks you like to indulge in while on vacation! The spacious kitchen can even help you with your vacation food budget by eating IN a meal or so each day!
Let’s see, what else does my condo choice have over a hotel room? Why a fireplace, Jacuzzi, and free, reliable Wi-Fi to name just a few. Oh, and I do enjoy the exterior corridors at a condo complex. I can see the additional views of public areas and surrounding scenery. And last but not least, a washer and dryer right in the unit! No more looking for quarters or lugging dirty clothes all over the hotel complex for others to view; yeah, that’s fun
Above and Beyond: The Extra Values
The final perk is the private, oversize balcony experience. Ahhhh… Imagine starting your day with that hot cup of java steaming in your face as you soak in the early morning sounds of Mother Nature. Listen to the gently flowing gurgle of Little Pigeon River, as your eyes sweep over the peaceful, serene sunrise peeping over the breath-taking Great Smoky Mountains. Now imagine those moments you are ending your family-fun day, high above the city, on that same balcony, peacefully looking down on the city of Pigeon Forge amidst thousands of twinkling lights, especially during Winterfest! A vacation from the world, indeed.
Now: Is there REALLY a Question in your Mind?
Now that you know the differences between a hotel room and a condominium home unit and its complex full of amenities, is there REALLY any comparison? Really? When it comes right down to it, we all just want a great location and a great price for our vacation times together; and we are all looking for the hidden treasure of extra value!
Bear Crossing is indeed the hidden treasure you are looking for. We don’t want you to upgrade your budget – we want you to upgrade your vacation experience!
