One of our favorite months of the year is finally back in town and we know all you Car Show and National Quartet Convention enthusiasts are getting just as excited as we are. We bet your bags are already packed and now all that’s left is to countdown the minutes until your getaway can officially begin. September is one of the most popular months of the year to visit Pigeon Forge and it’s thanks to these special events that we host each year. We love getting to welcome back all of the familiar faces and we look forward to meeting some new ones, too! If it’s your first time coming to these events, you’re in for the surprise of your life. People from all over meet in our charming town for a few weeks of non-stop fun and excitement. If you love cars or music, this is exactly where you’ll want to be depending on the event you’re looking most forward to. Let’s take a look at the 2019 Car Shows and the NQC and what they will each have to offer!

Shades of the Past

The first car show of the month will take place on September 6th and 7th, but we actually see a lot of our guests on the 5th (you have to get a good spot after all!) Get ready to see the main parkway line up with some beautiful vintage rods and even some newer beauties. It’s amazing to see all the work that people have put in to restoring some of them and the incredible effort to keep them in such pristine condition. Everybody cruises along to see them all lined up to show and it’s really something to see. This is also where a lot of visitors are able to do some trading and selling, so who knows, you may find something that you’ve been in the market for just waiting here for you. While this is considered to be the “smaller” of the two, don’t let that fool you, the streets will still be lined up for miles with all these classics staring back at you. The actual event will be taking place at Dollywood’s Splash Country where thousands of hot rods will be competing for the grand prizes (a 1932 Ford Hi-Boy Roadster and a $10,000 cash prize) and spectators can check them out for only $10 a day. Who’s getting excited for the 2019 Shades of the Past?!

Fall Rod Run

Now it’s time for the biggest car show of the year, that’s right, it’s rod run time. This event will be held from September 12th through the 14th. This is where you’ll see cars of every variety, from vintage to brand new and everything in between. They will be all lined up on the parkway for everyone to cruise by and see. Of course, there will also be buying and trading going on once again. It’s like a huge block party that goes on for miles. It’s always nice to see everybody getting together to enjoy a hobby and craft that these enthusiasts truly love. They have restored and kept so many of these classics in such pristine condition, it’s really something to see. This is one of the biggest events that we host here in Pigeon Forge and it’s become a tradition for so many visitors. For this one, the actual event will be held at the Leconte Center. They will have a huge swap meet and up to 25 awards and 5 ultimate awards, as well as a $10,000 cash giveaway! Let the fun begin!

NQC

Another big event that we host each year is the National Quartet Convention at the Leconte Center in Pigeon Forge. This is Gospel music’s largest live event and one that we know so many of you love. They will be visiting us from September 22nd through the 28th. Get ready to gather together and hear beautiful and uplifting music that we’re sure will have you tapping your feet and singing along. The guest list of performers looks to be incredible this year and we know there are a bunch that we want to join you to see as well! The have an endless array of talented musicians that will be putting on a great show each day. They have afternoon and evening showcase spectaculars, so make sure to arrive early to see every single minute of it. We’re so blessed to be able to play host each year to this fantastic and special event. It’s almost here everyone!

Weekend Tips

If it’s your first time visiting during these special events, you may want to know a few tips to help make it the best getaway possible. If you aren’t coming for these specifically, we’ll even include some helpful ones to keep in the back of your mind. First up, if you’re coming for the car shows, make sure to wear comfortable shoes. The car show spans along six miles and it’s a straight walk along the parkway. It’s also extremely pedestrian friendly, so you can enjoy checking out all these beauties up close and personal. Not coming for the shows? Here’s a few of our local suggestions. Set that alarm clock for an early time in the morning so you can beat the traffic and get to go enjoy the day and all the fun things to do in town. This is a great time to visit Gatlinburg and Sevierville, so head over early! Our condos do have fully equipped kitchens, so you can make some tasty meals and be able to avoid trying to get to the crowded restaurants. Another great tip is to learn the back roads, we promise that they aren’t all curvy and they will save you so much time since the parkway will be at a standstill for the weekend. Don’t hesitate to ask us at the front desk or even call the welcome centers for the best routes to take. Sometimes it’s inevitable, you will hit traffic, so just breathe and enjoy seeing all the stunning cars that line the parkway. If you’re attending the NQC, get there early! So many visitors attend the event and it fills up fast, as does the parking. After the event gets out, enjoy taking a short stroll along the river to avoid the busy lines of vehicles trying to leave the event. It’s a serene walk and you can avoid the hustle and bustle for a bit.

Who’s looking forward to the Car Shows and the NQC?! The fun has officially started and we love getting to see all your familiar faces. This is such a great time to visit the area and getting to see everyone out there having a blast is such a special sight to see.
